Getting the Ideas Rolling
So about a year ago my doctor informed me that using a walking cane was going to be part of my everyday life. With much reluctance I have now began to use a cane full time "almost." Well those that know me know that I love to tinker with everything, and really make it "mine." I have seen a few different styles of canes that are lightsabers online, most of the great ones were made by drmdicarlo of LDM Custom Sabers.
I really want to get my hands dirty on this project, so I don't plan to commission the whole thing. I started with a simple sketch and moved on to a 3D model of the first one I will build. I figure that I will use a 1" aluminum tubing for the handle portion of the cane with acrylic rods used for the "blade." I am thinking that a spiral wrapped paracord handle will look nice and fit perfectly for this project.
A quick 3D model with even more details
Ultra Sabers
I have also planed to make a fully functional saber cane using mostly stock lightsabers from UltraSabers.com. There is an active forum post on the subject at the moment. This version probably won't happen for quite some time due to funds, but I will keep this post updated with any changes to the project...stay tuned.

If you're interested in having a Pandora desktop app(sort-of) then keep on reading. It should work with any OS since it only uses Google Chrome and a few extensions to create the app. It's very easy to do so... Lets Get started: If you don't already use the best browser ever created then you will need to download and install Google Chrome. It should be quick and painless :) Now you will need to install the Stylish for Chrome extension. This extension can be used for much more than just Pandora, so make sure to check out all the other styles at http://adf.ly/2506976/userstyles. Next we install the Full Screen + No Adds Pandora style sheet created by kodayoda713. Now you could stop here and have Pandora open in a tab without adds and full screen...It already looks pretty good at this point The last thing left to do is create the app shortcut in Google Chrome. So open your now full screen Pandora Radio. Once you are there all that's left is to go to Chrome's Settings/Tools/Create application shortcuts... You will receive a prompt asking where you want the shortcuts to be placed. Select the places you'll want them and hit "Create" And...DONE!
Also if you want your Pandora Radio to be tracked/"scrobbled" by last.fm there is an extension for that too. It can be found here PandoraEnhancer it also has desktop notifications with player controls. Hope all goes well with your new Pandora desktop app. :) So for Christmas this year Santa brought the boys a 14' Trampoline (BouncePro 14' Trampoline and Enclosure with Spinner Flash Litez). All in all the trampoline was not very hard to assemble, but after about 1 week we began having problems with it. The foam padding used on the poles of the enclosure, as well as the mat surrounding the outer rim of the trampoline are beginning to "melt." The pictures give a better idea of what I mean by that. There is no apparent reason for this damage either. No trees above the trampoline or anything else for that matter. Rather than write a review on Wal-Mart's own website I chose to put the info here, since their site does not allow pictures in the reviews of products. Now with all this being said, the trampoline is a great toy :) All 3 boys have been having a blast with it almost everyday since Christmas. The Spinner Litez, as they call them, are quite awesome...video of them in action coming soon. Was a steal on black Friday shopping at under $200. Just wanted to show the few problems we had with ours. *Update:
We have found the source! It's almost too simple...The suns reflection off our windows are causing it to burn. I now worry about what it will look like when summer hits. :( Still happy with the performance, but had to move the trampoline to a more shaded area for now. Apparently this is not the only case either (Woman Claims Neighbor’s Energy Efficient Windows Are Melting Her Toyota Prius) looks like the windows are the cause of the melting foam :( Today I would like to tell you about a very handy little tool called Ninite 'cause it Rocks! The scenario goes something like this...you just re-installed your operating system and now you must hunt down and install all your favorite programs. It could normally take you anywhere from 10 minutes up to 2 hours to get all this done...not anymore! With Ninite all you have to do is choose the programs that you want to install and then download the program. No real walk through is needed because it really is that simple.
Not only will Ninite install all the listed programs for you, it can easily update all those programs as well...just run the same installer again. Ninite will contact all the appropriate servers and check to make sure you are running the most current version of the selected list of programs. There is also a pro version of the software which expands on the features of Ninite by allowing you to install to multiple computers at once (on a network) and also installs about 3x faster. Ninite currently has both Windows and Linux versions. While the Linux version works just fine it's program list is quite bare in comparison to the windows programs. Red Bluff has it's very own roller derby team and had asked me to design their logo. After going through about 20 design changes (that's the nature of business) we finally decided on these two here.
For more information on the team checkout their facebook page. And for information on roller derby in general you can always check out the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) website. Good information can be found at both locations. It was fun working with the team to get a design that everyone liked. The girls have already orderd shirts with the new logo's and they look great. |
